DISCLAIMER – I am not a theologian. This is as simple of a post as I can possibly write in order to get the point across. I know that you will likely have questions so please feel free to reach out to me and I can explain, and we can talk and chat the night away! I care so much about you and I would love to talk the time to personally walk you through salvation.
What is salvation?
1. preservation or deliverance from harm, ruin, or loss.
2. deliverance from sin and its consequences, believed by Christians to be brought about by faith in Christ.
As a Christian, I believe that salvation comes only in the way of putting faith in Jesus as your savior.
Why do I need to receive salvation?
At the beginning of time, God created Adam and Eve with the intention that they would live harmoniously with God in the Garden of Eden.
Adam and Eve sinned against God and brought a curse upon humanity.
Since you are a human, this applies to you.
This explains why we sin. We sin because we were born into the curse of being a sinner.
The curse could only be corrected by the death of Jesus.
I know that this sounds like some sort of cult, but I promise you it is not.
This is the truth and trust me, the truth that you know will set you free from all of this.
Here’s the deal, God is just because he is perfect.
If he were able to just turn the other cheek on the sin of Adam and Eve, he would not be a perfectly just God. What is the point of a God that is not perfect?
So we needed the gift of a savior.
The ONLY way to fix this is to receive God’s gift.
What is the gift?
Jesus is God’s only son. He left the throne of heaven and was born into this world as a man. His mission was to restore humanity.
Jesus taught and spent his entire life preaching about God’s love because yes, God is just but, HE LOVES US!
So, Jesus came to be our savior – our superhero if you will.
Jesus came and died on the cross.
When he died, he quenched God’s wrath and justified us.
He pardoned us from the curse.
He came back from the dead. He resurrected. He defeated death and evil.
He promises a new and abundant life filled with hope.
So now what?
Well, now all you have to do to receive God’s blessing, hope, life, restoration, promises, all of it is:
Repent – meaning ask God to forgive you of your sins
Receive – receive Jesus into your heart as your savior
Read – read your bible to find out the promises that you just received.
Here is an example: (say It out loud)
God, I realize that I am a sinner.
I pray that you would forgive me of my sins and wash me clean.
I accept your gift of eternal life.
I receive your son Jesus into my heart and life as my savior.
Jesus come into my life, take control, I trust in you.
I will now walk with you, God.
You just made the best decision of your life. If you truly believe what you just said then you are now born again into a new life of hope and eternal life. Please know that this is an extremely simplified explanation of what just happened and I am going to come back and fill in the gaps.
I’ve included this infographic that I absolutely love – it has scriptures on it that will explain salvation and basically everything I just said. So…
